Why We Built This Site
Louisiana public-records law, including R.S. 44:1 and R.S. 44:31, gives broad access to public records subject to exceptions. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. In Livingston Parish, Clerk of Court Jason B. Harris is the primary keeper for district court filings, civil records, criminal and traffic filings outside municipal limits, marriage records, mortgage and conveyance records, jury functions, and research/copy services. The 21st Judicial District Court handles civil and criminal matters for Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa Parishes. The Sheriff's Office manages jail and warrant resources, while Denham Springs City Court and Walker Municipal Court handle their own local matters.
